Memo to President Emmert and A.D. Turner: Fire Willingham. Hire Jim Mora.

Tyrone Willingham has not even lost his job yet, but starting today U-Dub Dish is endorsing Jim Mora for the next head coach of our UW Huskies. We need someone with some Husky pride who not only has heard about our tradition, but has been a part of it. You know, as much as I have grown to hate Willingham as a coach, I want to make it clear that I do think he is a good guy. But I just don't think he has the talent or the know-how to build a winning team here.

By all accounts, Jim Mora is the guy for this job. His results as a coach for the Falcons were mixed, but I do think he has what it takes to build a winning college football program. I'll layout this case in more detail later, but for now, let it suffice to say that Mora brings the character that will attract recruits, understands defense (which in my opinion is what wins games) as a former defensive back, and has proven wherever he has coached that he is a great teacher of the game. For all these reasons, I think Mora will be a successful coach if given the chance at UW. To make things even better, he is a former Husky and has great pride for our university. To me, it's a no-brainer. Hire Jim Mora.

Jim Mora

Yes, while I agree with the Huskies need for a change; I am still perplexed by Jim Mora as a candidate.   The coaching problems with the Huskies do not end with Tyrone Willingham.  If Jim Mora does come in what coaching staff will he bring along with him?  As we have seen in the past College Football coaches that go pro have problems adapting.  (Dolphin Traitor Nick Saban).  Does the same hold true for NFL coaches coming down to coach college football.  Can Jim Mora recruit, can he not only act as a coach but as a mentor to help elevate our freshman's game.  Coaching in the NFL and coaching in College are completely different tasks.  While I want change to happen as soon as possible.  I have ask the question;  is Jim Mora a true candidate or do we just all wish him to be so badly that we have blind faith in him?

Valid Question...

There are some concerns about Mora and some NFL coaches have had real problems with going to college. Dave Wannstedt comes to mind. On the flip side you have Pete Carroll at USC.

Unlike Wannstedt, Mora actually had some success in the NFL.

With Oregon, OSU and Boise becoming solid programs it is now much more difficult to keep local recruits in Seattle.

With Mora's NFL track record, top flight RBs and defensive players would be nuts to not want to play for him. That is itself is a major bonus.

He'll bring an aura of tradition and excitement to UW that will go a long ways in getting this program going in a direction that it needs to be heading in.
