11.8 1.2 22.0 Brockman F/C Freeman 8.3 1.8 5.8

Tip-off at 7:30 PM as Long Beach State (1-3) is the opponent tonight for the Dawgs. Not sure if Bryan-Amaning will get the start again or not. Romar could revert back to Joel Smith with a three guard format, but we'll assume he's the sixth man for now.

Should be an easy win and help snap the two game losing streak after last week's meltdown in New York. In the end, it might just be that the Huskies are not yet as good as Texas A&M or Syracuse. They did look severely over matched at several points in both those games. But I really don't think we are that far off either. Our Huskies are still developing and have a young nucleus. Tonight is an opportunity to build confidence for the younger players and get back on track for upcoming games against Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh.

LET'S GO HUSKIES!

Huskies win 84-69

... but it was not the blowout that I had hoped for at all.

Some quick notes:

  • Bryan-Amaning got the start again tonight.  But he really didn't have too much to show for it: 11 points, 4 rebounds.

  • Free Throws!  The Huskies shot an abysmal 9 for 26 at the line tonight (34.6%).  That is completely unacceptable and will get them into trouble against better teams.  The FT shooting this season has left a lot to be desired.  The Dawgs came into this one only shooting 61.8% on the year.  Time to get that squared away.

  • Good game for Justin Dentmon tonight.  22 points shooting 9-15 from the field.

  • UW went to a zone defense shortly after L.B.S. made it a 46-43 game early in the 2nd half.  It remained a four point game with seven minutes left in the game and then UW finally pulled away.

A game that was too close for comfort and showed some of the weakness of this team.  Like I said earlier though, this is a young team overall and some of these things will just improve as the team gels and guys improve their individual game.
